Meanwhile in Iraq…

October 17, 2008

Another sure sign of the massive success the Surge Senator John McCain supported (and Barak Hussein Obama voted against) is the fact that the US Marines are pulling out of the Anbar province (including the city of Fallujah) because the violence levels are so low.

Another example of "liberal logic"

Code Pink is “declaring victory” and stopping their protests at the USMC recruiting station in Berkeley.

Here is the kicker, apparently the word “Victory” means something different to the hard far left extremist moonbats of “Code Pink.”

As the nice folks at This Ain’t Hell point out, the US Marines are still there.

In fact, the USMC intends on staying to at least the end of the three year lease they have on the office space.

Protest Shooter has pictures of the rather tiny “victory celebration.” Note that the “Code Pink” moonbats are also 9/11 Troofer moonbats too boot!

He also has a link to a cool shirt.

Democrat Speaker of House Orders Tribute to Fallen Marines Removed.

Scott at Flopping Aces points out:

The Speaker of the House, Rep Nancy Pelosi (D) believes that it’s wrong to advocate, honor, and pay tribute to fallen American Marines.

Go read the whole thing.

Anti-American moonbats still on the prowl in Bezerkly

Zombietime has the current roundup of photos of the hard far left Socialists protesting the US Marines Corps, which defends their right to protest, while patriotic Americans are there to support the USMC.

NY Times Buries Haditha Exoneration

April 3, 2008

NRO points out that the liberal New York Times thinks a hint of bad news for the US Military is worthy of the front page headline, while the news that the charges have been dropped gets buried inside.

Military scandals are always front-page news—until they turn out to be less scandalous than thought. The New York Times gave huge play to the allegations of a massacre—”in cold blood,” as Democrat John Murtha put it—by U.S. forces at Haditha. It was front-page stuff, with “World Ends”-sized headlines. But now, almost all of the men charged have had their charges dropped, and many of those who have followed the case wonder why charges were brought in the first place, given that the evidence was so weak that it didn’t even make it to trial.

So where does the New York Times play the dropping of charges against U.S. marine Stephen Tatum? Halfway down the page in the last column of A8.

Here are some of the stories that the New York Times deemed more important than the fact that a marine accused of murder in Iraq is guilty of no wrongdoing at all:

A humanitarian aid group that need your support.

February 10, 2008

This group has the following good deeds to their credit:

In 2005 as part of the tsunami relief effort they delivered 493,755 pounds of food, water and other supplies between 1/14/05 and 2/9/05.

In 2006, they provided much needed medical aid to East Timor.

In November, 2006 they treated 2,000 victims of the October earthquake in Shinkiari, Pakistan.

In August, 2006, this group worked with the Uganda People’s Defense Force on multiple construction projects including the renovation of the local medical clinic, repairing the children’s ward, the nurses and nuns residence and the kitchen.

In August, 2007 members of this group participated in Project Handclasp and over a period of six months refurbished and built eight schools.

In December, 2007 they delivered 254,425 pounds of food and supplies plus 14,309 gallons water and treated 2,355 patients, to disaster victims in Bangladesh.

I am sure these men and women don’t seek your praise but I think it would appropriate if you and the city council would recognize their efforts.

Oh, by the way, I compiled these statistics by doing a quick Internet check of newspaper articles and I know this only represents a very small contribution made by a partial contingent of this group. In any event it’s time they deserve your thanks. Did I forget to mention these are Marines?

The USMC deserves your support and the barbarians in Berkeley need to taken to task.

More on the Barbarians in Berkeley.

February 2, 2008

My friend Doug, a former US Army Infantryman and dyed in the wool liberal born and raised in San Francisco, has a few choice words about the actions of his neighbors in Berkeley against the United States Marine Corps.

The City of Berkeley has gone too fucking far. A USMC Recruiting office opened on Shattuck Avenue in December 2006. It’s mission is to attract recent college graduates to serve as officers.

“Code Pink” one of the shriller anti-everything groups in the area, went nuts.

The Berkeley City Council just passed two resolutions: One gave Code Pink a designated parking spot, right in front of the station. The second?

The other resolution more directly criticizes the presence of the center in Berkeley. The city manager was directed to send a letter to the U.S. Marine Corps saying they are “uninvited and unwelcome intruders” in the city.

In addition, the city attorney has been directed to investigate whether the city’s anti-discrimination laws can be enforced at the center, based on the military’s consideration of sexual orientation in hiring.

The United States Marine Corps. Morons, if the Marines were coming to your town as “unwelcome intruders” y’all would currently be either dead or learning to love life as an EPW. Marine recruiters are complete professionals, and I say this as an old Army grunt!

But things get better.. Betty Olds, member of the Politburo for the PR of Berkeley actually said the following:

“I’m ashamed of my vote,” said Councilwoman Betty Olds, who helped approve the parking spot but not the condemnation. “The protesters should have free speech – this is where Free Speech was born, after all – but to tell the Marines they are not welcome is shameful. If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t even go for the parking spot.”

Free Speech in this country was born at a place called Lexington and Concord. The rights enshrined in the First Amendment were won by force of arms, including those first Marines.

Amazing.

So, until both these resolutions are withdrawn and the City Council of Berkeley issues an apology to the USMC, I will not be spending a freaking dime in that city. That includes companies based in the den of weasels.

You might also contact your national representatives and suggest that if Berkeley hates the federal government so much, they can do without federal money.

To be clear, I support Code Pink’s right to be idiots in public. What is appalling is a city government attacking a branch of the military.

Update
: How others view the US Marine Corps:

“Some people live their entire lifetime and wonder if they ever made a difference to the world. Marines don’t have that problem.” — United States President Ronald Reagan, January 1995

“The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank GOD for the United States Marine Corps.” Eleanor Roosevelt, 1945

“Marines are about the most peculiar breed of human beings I have ever witnessed. They treat their service as if it were some kind of cult, plastering their emblem on almost everything they own, making themselves up to look like insane fanatics with haircuts to ungentlemanly lengths, worshipping their Commandant almost as if he were a god, and making weird animal noises like a band of savages. They’ll fight like rabid dogs at the drop of a hat just for the sake of a little action, and are the cockest sons of bitches I have ever known. Most have the foulest mouths and drink well beyond man’s normal limits, but their high spirits and sense of brotherhood set them apart and, generally speaking, the United States Marines I’ve come in contact with are the most professional soldiers and the finest men I have ever had the pleasure to meet.” — An Anonymous Canadian Citizen

“I think it’s nothing more than the way the Marines do business. They approach everything from the way they do business in Washington to how they approach a peacetime program objective like it’s a combat operation, and it’s one of the reasons they are so darned successful.” — U.S. Navy SEAL Commander Mark Divine

Also, take note of of the last photo in Zombietime’s collection of the Code Pink Moonbats “protest.” As soon as they punch the clock and leave, a Marine smartly polices the area.
