No real surprise there. More like “business at Usual.”
George Russell of Fox News points out that United Nations bureaucrats are breaking their own “ethics” rules to hide massive corruption.
…[a] whistleblower charged that [United Nations Development Program] had funneled millions in hard-currency to the regime of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il and allowed North Korean government employees to run key aspects of its development program there. Then, he claimed, UNDP retaliated by firing him.
…
In UNDP’s case, a vivid insight into the potential for abuse was provided by the North Korean investigative report, which was made public in early June. UNDP immediately hailed the 353-page report as vindication—even though the document reiterated at great length that UNDP had systematically violated its own rules in hiring North Korean government employees to fill key UNDP jobs in the country, illegally handed over millions in hard currency to the government of Kim Jong Il, and ignored the laws of the U.S. and other countries in handing on sensitive “dual use” civilian-military technology to the Kim regime, even as North Korea was building and testing a nuclear weapon.
So, the UN is violating its own ethics rules, handing “millions in hard currency” to Communist dictators, punishing whistle blowers and denying they did anything wrong. Yup, sounds like business as usual at the United Nations.

Curt at Flopping Aces points out this interesting bit from the UN Boondoggle in Bali:
The science on climate change is indisputable so the world must now act to limit greenhouse gas emissions or face “abrupt and irreversible” change, the head of the Nobel prize-winning U.N. climate panel said on Sunday.
But Rajendra Pachauri, head of the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), said the industrialized world did not have a moral right to force poorer nations to slash emissions that may stunt their growth.
Curt then draw the correct conclusion:
Only a politician looking for a Socialist paradise would have the gall to say that the world is facing “abrupt and irreversible” change unless we reduce greenhouse gas emissions but that developed nations don’t have a “moral right” to ask less developed nations to do anything to avoid this catastrophe.
Soooooo transparent. It seems to be more of a policy to harm developed nations rather then saving the earth.
Read the whole thing. Hardly surprising, the UN bandits are cherry picking the data to make their case and crushing any dissent.

Probably just because that would have “contributed to global warming”, although much less so than the swarm of private jets.
They will just never be able to get any politically connected academic funding again.
The Herald Sun Reports:
The United Nations has rejected all attempts by a group of dissenting scientists seeking to present information at the climate change conference taking place in Bali, Indonesia.
The International Climate Science Coalition (ICSC) has been denied the opportunity to present at panel discussions, side events, and exhibits; its members were denied press credentials. The group consists of distinguished scientists from Africa, Australia, India, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The scientists, citing pivotal evidence on climate change published in peer-reviewed journals, have expressed their opposition to the UN’s alarmist theory of anthropogenic global warming.
As Mr. Reynolds puts it, this is a “CRUSHING OF DISSENT.”

They claim it is about Global Warming, but if they believe their own press releases, they would be holding a teleconference. Scott Kirwin at the Razor did the math showing just how much CO2 they dumping into the atmosphere by holding a conference on “Global Warming” in the tropical location of Bali.
I will update this post with better numbers as I find them. However my estimate is that the UN conference in Bali will spew over 40,000 metric tons of CO2 into the atmosphere in air travel alone. This CO2 has the warming effect of just over 122,000 metric tons of CO2.
According to this Wikipedia article, trees planted in the tropics remove 22kg of CO2 from the atmosphere per year. That’s roughly 45 trees needed to remove one metric ton of CO2.
So in order to cover the 40,000 metric tons we would have to plant roughly 2,000,000 trees in the tropics.
…
Glenn Reynolds has stated, “I’ll believe it’s a crisis when the people who say it’s a crisis start acting like it’s a crisis.” It’s difficult to argue with that sentiment. Imagine a conference to fight illegal drugs being attended by participants who were stoned, or holding a meeting to combat obesity at an all-you-can-eat buffet. Are global warming skeptics the only ones who appreciate the irony here?
Mr. Kirwin’s numbers are probably low, since he calculated them based on the UN officials flying business class. Commercial airlines are not good enough for the self-appointed World Elite. As I noted before, the airport at Bali doesn’t have enough tarmac to handle the number of private jets chartered to bring the conference attendees.
