Quote of the Day

April 23, 2009

“…status is not the American Conservative position. Rather, conservatives believe that change for change’s sake is folly. What kind of change? At what cost? For the liberals and progressives, everything was expendable, from tradition to individualism to “outdated” conceptions of freedom. These were all tired dogmas to be burned on the alters of the news age.”

Jonah Goldberg, Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left from Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning.

Xmas Present From Progressives: Starvation

How many poor people have progressives starved since 1917? It’s a good question and somebody should do the research and publish it.

Russia was the breadbasket of Europe until progressives seized power in that year and started instituting policies to “share the wealth.” For the next 70 years until socialism collapsed, Russia was a net importer of food always on the brink of famine. In the 1930s, Stalin instigated a calculated famine in the Ukraine to rid himself of approximately 10 million political enemies.

His crime was protected by the progressives at the New York Times and on the Pulitzer Prize Committee (they control both institutions to this day). Because soft progressives cover for hard-line progressives like Stalin, Castro and other political monsters — preferring to demonize George Bush and John Ashcroft instead — these atrocities continue.

The left’s inability to understand the most basic economic fact — that people need an incentive to produce — has caused the unnecessary deaths of tens of millions of people — mostly poor — in the last 75 years. But thanks to a politically corrupted media and educational system, their pig-headed pursuit of socialist fantasies goes on.

More bad news for the left…

September 21, 2007

Remember, good news for America, is bad news for the so-called “progressives.”
By way of Ace comes this bit of news:
Violence In Iraq At Lowest Level Since Start Of Sectarian “Civil War” In 2006

Violence across Iraq has fallen to its lowest level since before the bombing of a Shiite mosque in February 2006 that sparked savage sectarian bloodletting, a US military commander said on Thursday.

There has also been a 50 percent fall-off in violence in Baghdad since January, Lieutenant General Ray Odierno, the number two commander of US-led forces in Iraq, told a press conference in Baghdad.

“Attacks nationwide have fallen to the lowest level since before the Golden Mosque bombing,” he said, referring to a bombing which destroyed the revered shrine in Samarra and unleashed a relentless wave of reprisals and counter-reprisals across Iraq that has already killed thousands of Iraqis.

“Car bombs and suicide attacks have dropped to their lowest level in a year,” Odierno said. “Attacks in Baghdad have reached the lowest level this year and the trend continues to be down.”

Civilian casualties had dropped from a high of about 32 per day to 12 per day, the US commander said.

“Al-Qaeda in Iraq is increasingly being pushed out of Baghdad and the surrounding areas,” he said. “We are starting to see a normalisation of life across Iraq and also in Baghdad.”

“There are about 507 neighbourhoods in Baghdad and before operation Fardh al-Qanoon (Imposing Law) was launched (in February), two-thirds were controlled by terrorists and criminal gangs,” the general said.

“Today, only five or six neighbourhoods can be considered hot zones,” he said.

Just a reminder, the hard far left so-called “progressives” really do wish harm for America and American Troops:

“I have a confession: I have at times, as the war has unfolded, secretly wished for things to go wrong. Wished for the Iraqis to be more nationalistic, to resist longer. Wished for the Arab world to rise up in rage. Wished for all the things we feared would happen. I’m not alone: A number of serious, intelligent, morally sensitive people who oppose the war have told me they have had identical feelings.” — Gary Kamiya Executive editor of the left wing Salon.com, reported in the Inside Politics column of the Washington Times, April 18, 2003

More examples of Liberal Hate Speech

December 30, 2004

Jeff Jacoby, the Boston Globe‘s token conservative has his year end wrap up.
Here are some highlights:

Former Vice President Al Gore referred to GOP activists as “brown shirts.” Newsday columnist Hugh Pearson likened the Republican National Convention to the “Nazi rallies held in Germany during the reign of Adolf Hitler.” Linda Ronstadt said that the Republican victory on Election Day meant “we’ve got a new bunch of Hitlers.” Chuck Turner, a Boston city councilor, smeared National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice as “a tool of white leaders,” like “a Jewish person working for Hitler.”

It has increasingly become a habit of leftist argumentation to simply dismiss conservative ideas as evil or noxious rather than rebut them with facts and evidence.

That is why there was no uproar when Cameron Diaz declared that rape might be legalized if women didn’t turn out to vote for John Kerry. Or when Walter Cronkite told Larry King that the videotape of Osama bin Laden that surfaced just before the election was “probably set up” by Karl Rove.

Fantasies of murder likewise animated British pundit Charlie Brooker, who ended his Oct. 24 column in the Guardian with a plea for Bush’s death: “John Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald, John Hinckley Jr. — where are you now that we need you?”

The Truth comes out.
