Ace correctly calls the difference between the Right & Left

July 8, 2009

Here is the money quote from really good rant.

…let us not forget an important factor: Conservativism was the no-bullshit party. If you were a liberal, there’s a whole list of pieties you were required to loudly proclaim your belief in, even if you didn’t believe them at all.

Red meat bad, green power good, everyone on welfare is a deserving soul who is out of work through no fault whatsoever of his own, and, in fact, it’s really the productive members of society who are to blame for their ills, when you think of it.

You know the litany.

Conservatives, on the other hand, had — for a while — a fairly open and dynamic and vigorous exchange of ideas, in which some ideas might be wrong, some ideas might be crazy, but few ideas were actually forbidden.

Go read the whole thing.

Quote of the Day

April 23, 2009

“…status is not the American Conservative position. Rather, conservatives believe that change for change’s sake is folly. What kind of change? At what cost? For the liberals and progressives, everything was expendable, from tradition to individualism to “outdated” conceptions of freedom. These were all tired dogmas to be burned on the alters of the news age.”

This should be no surprise to anyone who pays attention

July 2, 2008

From the Cato Institute:

The Heller dissent presents the remarkable spectacle of four liberal Supreme Court justices tying themselves into an intellectual knot to narrow the protections the Bill of Rights provides.

Or perhaps it’s not as remarkable as we’ve been led to think. Consider the Court’s First Amendment decisions. Contrary to popular belief, conservative justices are about as likely to vote in favor of individuals bringing First Amendment challenges to government regulations as are the liberals. Indeed, the justice most likely to vote to uphold a First Amendment claim is the “conservative” Justice Anthony Kennedy. The least likely is the “liberal” Justice Stephen Breyer. Consistent with general conservative/liberal patterns in commercial speech cases, Justices Clarence Thomas and Antonin Scalia have voted to invalidate restrictions on advertising more than 75 percent of the time. Justices Breyer and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, meanwhile, have voted to uphold such restrictions in most cases.

Conservative justices also typically vote to limit the government’s ability to regulate election-related speech, while liberal justices are willing to uphold virtually any regulation in the name of “campaign finance reform.”

In the infamous Kelo v. New London, the Court’s liberal justices, joined by Justice Kennedy, held that the government may take an individual’s property and turn it over to a private party for commercial use. The four conservative dissenters argued that such actions violate the Fifth Amendment’s requirement that government takings be for “public use.”

Let us review the facts: Conservatives are generally for individual rights, and giving the individual to power to improve their own situation.
Liberals are not for the individual, but are for taking rights away from “the People” and giving more power to the government.

If the Brady Anti-Civil Rights folks told the truth…

June 16, 2008

…they wouldn’t have a case. The facts are against the anti-Civil/Human Rights Victim Disarmament crowd.

Alphecca has yet another example of this.
Even the BATF is calling them on fudging the numbers in order to lie to the American public.

No need to raise taxes…

May 30, 2008

…just get liberals to actually pay their taxes! Joining the ranks of liberal who callf for raising your taxes and don’t pay their own taxes, (such as democrat Senate candidate Al Franken) is uber-liberal far left extremist so-called “journalist” Keith “Bathtub Boy” Olbermann. Details at Olbermann Watch.

New York State has issued a tax warrant against Keith Olbermann for failure to pay taxes on his humbly named personal corporation, Olbermann Broadcasting Empire, Inc. Olbermann is listed in legal records as the President of Olbermann Broadcasting Empire, Inc.

A call to the Albany County Clerk’s Office in upstate New York confirmed that the warrant is still outstanding and that Olbermann has still failed to pay his back taxes. State records show that Olbermann’s company failed to pay $2,269.50 in state taxes. A judgement was entered against Olbermann last summer (Docket Date: 8/21/2007), just weeks before Olbermann closed on a a luxurious $4.2 mm condo at Trump Palace, at 200 East 69th Street.

Air America in the News again.

May 29, 2008

Not for another station dropping the hard far left extremist liberal Err America feed, which is why they are typically in the news.

This goes back to their looting of Bronx charity to ease their cash flow problems.
According to the NY Post:

Evan Montvel-Cohen was picked up by border-patrol officers at Guam International Airport on an outstanding warrant from Hawaii. He had been indicted there last month for money laundering and the theft of more than $60,000 from a Honolulu landscaping firm, prosecutors said.

“We at DOI are not surprised to hear that Mr. Montvel-Cohen was arrested on theft and money-laundering charges,” said Rose Gill Hearn, commissioner of the city’s Department of Investigation, which probed the looting of the Gloria Wise Boys & Girls Club in Co-op City.

It was Montvel-Cohen who, as development director for Gloria Wise, convinced other club officials in 2003 and 2004 to give $875,000 of taxpayer money to the radio network where he was a top executive and co-founder.

He also received loans from the club of more than $45,000 that were never repaid.

liberal pundit Joe Klein needs a history lesson

April 7, 2008

Joe Klein makes the following statement:

In others words, it is more patriotic to be in favor of civil rights legislation than to oppose it…

Mr. Klein forgets, or is blissfully ignorant of the fact that the Civil Rights Act passed because a majority of Republicans voted for it, along with a minority of the democrats who controlled Congress at the time. Among the liberal democrats who voted against the Civil Rights Act were Senator Al Gore, Sr. and the former KKK Grand Kleagle, Senator Robert Bird.

If the left shoe fits…

March 24, 2008

Barak Obama is saying that he doesn’t want to be classified as a liberal.
The truth is he has a voting record that puts him to the left of the “Liberal Lion” Senator Ted Kennedy.
So, not only is he a liberal, he is a far hard left extremist liberal.
That is just the easily observable flat out truth of the matter.
The International Herald Tribune quotes him as saying,

“we need a leader who can finally move beyond the divisive politics of Washington and bring Democrats, independents and Republicans together to get things done.”

A policy which is not shown by his voting record. The person running with the record of bipartisanship, which Obama is calling for, is John McCain. That is also an easily observable flat out truth.
Barak Obama’s voting record is one of “divisive politics.” His campaign has managed to tear the democrat party in half (not that I’m complaining about that…) and is causing the party Overseers to chug MaloxTM the way the usually chug whiskey.
Not that Obama’s fracturing the party is bad thing. He has shown that the Iron Fisted Reign of the Clintons of the DNC is over and that the Black vote is is not owned by the DNC party Overseers.

What Obama’s campaign is not is what he is trying to tell you it is. He is trying to con you into believing that he is “the kind of president who would be able to unify the country.” Sadly, according to the last New York Times/CBS News Poll, 67 percent of all registered voters are buying his bullshit.

Sad, but true

March 18, 2008

Dr. Jerry Pournelle reviews Jonah Goldberg’s book Liberal Fascism.

Goldberg’s book is an anomaly: serious students of political science shouldn’t find anything here they didn’t already know. Alas, I had to say ‘shouldn’t’, because a very great number of people who consider themselves serious students of political science will be shocked and astonished.

The far left plays the race card…

December 17, 2007

Not surprising in itself, but this time it’s the far hard left left extremist talk radio demagogue Randi Rhodes slamming Opra for using “black preacher” voice during an event on behalf of Barak Obama. How dare she support anyone but the “anointed” HRC!
