Speaking of Kyoto

November 19, 2008

It seems that the reality of the Kyoto Protocols being a socialist Ponzi scheme is hitting home in Europe.

Italy and Germany agree that measures to cut greenhouse gases shouldn’t weigh on the economy, Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel said at a press conference Tuesday, indicating government support for tough new measures in Europe is waning.
Any new European Union decisions on climate change and energy “must be taken in such a way as to not weigh on industry”

Kyoto chickens are coming home to roost in the EU.

September 23, 2008

By way of AoSHQ is the story on how EU businesses are not happy with the restrictions placed on them by the Kyoto Protocols.

Well, now the chickens have come home to roost. European business leaders are threatening to take their businesses somewhere else where the environmental restrictions are not so damaging. They claim that the new carbon emissions offset programs amount to a “tax” (which they are, the EU just didn’t want to call it that) and that the restrictions will cost “44 billion” a year in the next seven years.

China and India have no such restrictions and are exempt under the Kyoto treaty. Germany and Italy (both with some of the highest unemployment in Europe) are starting to wonder if these EU environmental demands shouldn’t be scrapped while the head of the EU is confident that Sarkozy, with his environmental revolution campaign promise, will help ram it through the EU council.

Most Europeans are ignorant on the facts…

August 18, 2008

Hmmm…that could be the reason Barak H. Obama is so popular there.
The UK Telegraph reports that “British attitudes towards the United States are governed by ignorance of the facts on key issues such as crime, health care and foreign policy”

A poll of nearly 2,000 Britons by YouGov/PHI found that 70 per cent of respondents incorrectly said it was true that the US had done a worse job than the European Union in reducing carbon emissions since 2000. More than 50 per cent presumed that polygamy was legal in the US, when it is illegal in all 50 states.

The survey showed that a majority agreed with the false statement that since the Second World War the US had more often sided with non-Muslims when they had come into conflict with Muslims. In fact in 11 out of 12 major conflicts between Muslims and non-Muslims, Muslims and secular forces, or Arabs and non-Arabs, the US has sided with the former group. Those conflicts included Turkey and Greece, Bosnia and Yugoslavia, and and Kosovo and Yugoslavia.

Asked if it was true that “from 1973 to 1990 the United States sold Saddam Hussein more than a quarter of his weapons,” 80 per cent of British respondents said yes. However the US sold just 0.46 per cent of Saddam’s arsenal to him, compared to Russia’s 57 per cent, France’s 13 per cent and China’s 12 per cent.

Almost a third of Britons believe that “Americans who have not paid their hospitals fees or insurance premiums are not entitled to emergency medical care”; by law such treatment must be provided.

I think it is a pretty safe bet that a survey of American “liberals” would result in much of the same woefully ignorant answers.

Going to Barak Obama’s base.

August 6, 2008

George Clooney is hosting a fundraiser for Barak H. Obama.
He is holding in a stronghold of Obama supporters, Geneva, Switzerland.

Makes sense. Obama pontificates before massive crowds in Europe, while his poll numbers are dropping the in US.

Good thing, only US citizen are supposed to vote in American elections. The democrats are doing their best to change that, but for now, it is still law of the land.

Speaking Truth to Tranzi Power

October 29, 2007

Kudos to Tom Lantos (D-CA), yes a democrat, for giving a needed verbal bitch slap to the socialists/Transnational Progressives that make up the excuse for a Dutch government.

…The Dutch sent these politicians here to bitch about Gitmo. No reporter attended a meeting between the Dutch and the congressman, but AP wrote a story based on Green Party legislator Mariko Peters.

The Dutch are threatening to remove their 1,600 troops from Afghanistan to protest Gitmo. Dutch politicians face growing problems with Islamic youths and likely fear a L’Intifada like France suffered in 2005.

Peters said: “We have to close Guantanamo because it symbolizes for me everything that is wrong with this war on terror.”

To which Lantos apparently replied: “Europe was not as outraged by Auschwitz as by Guantanamo Bay”

I’m expecting the moonbat Kos Kiddies to start calling for his destruction over this departure from the far hard left extremist orthodoxy.

Good News for France

The Socialists were defeated.

Remember that Europe is a "Gun Free Zone"

April 22, 2007

Also remember what “Gun Free Zone” really means.

James Q. Wilson points out the real defination hold true:

AS FOR THE European disdain for our criminal culture, many of those countries should not spend too much time congratulating themselves. In 2000, the rate at which people were robbed or assaulted was higher in England, Scotland, Finland, Poland, Denmark and Sweden than it was in the United States. The assault rate in England was twice that in the United States. In the decade since England banned all private possession of handguns, the BBC reported that the number of gun crimes has gone up sharply.

Some of the worst examples of mass gun violence have also occurred in Europe. In recent years, 17 students and teachers were killed by a shooter in one incident at a German public school; 14 legislators were shot to death in Switzerland, and eight city council members were shot to death near Paris.

The main lesson that should emerge from the Virginia Tech killings is that we need to work harder to identify and cope with dangerously unstable personalities.

It is a problem for Europeans as well as Americans, one for which there are no easy solutions — such as passing more gun control laws.

Mr. Reynold has a roundup of the facts.
Remember that “Gun Control” is a liberal democrat code word for Victim Disarmament.
