Cap and Tax

March 30, 2009

Our Dear Leader‘s so-called “Cap and Trade” program is really a “Cap and Tax” program that is going to suck more money from the paychecks of every American.

This energy tax is going to hit the poorest the hardest, since they pay the largest percentage of their income on energy costs (electricity, heating and transportation).

White House sources have admitted that this will be an average increase of $1,800 per family!

President Obama’s energy tax plan — a version of the failed European “cap and trade” global warming fiasco — may cost families $1,800 yearly in higher utility bills, far exceeding his promised $800 a year tax cut for 95% of Americans.

While campaigning, Obama admitted that his energy plan would cause electric bills to “skyrocket.” President Obama’s energy tax plan — a version of the failed European “cap and trade” global warming fiasco — may cost families $1,800 yearly in higher utility bills, far exceeding his promised $800 a year tax cut for 95% of Americans.

So when Candidate Obama said that Americans making less than $250,000 a year would not see any new taxes, he was lying! Get used to it folks. It’s a long way until January 20, 2013.

Obama breaks promise on pork spending

March 3, 2009

According to the AP:

Despite campaign promises to take a machete to lawmakers’ pet projects, President Barack Obama is quietly caving to funding nearly 8,000 of them this year, drawing a stern rebuke Monday from his Republican challenger in last fall’s election.

Arizona Sen. John McCain said it is “insulting to the American people” for Obama’s budget director to indicate over the weekend that the president will sign a $410 billion spending bill with what Republicans critics say is nearly $5.5 billion in pet projects known as earmarks.

How many rational people actually expected BHO to keep his campaign promises. As he so clearly said, “We won.” So expect a far left extremist agenda shoved down your throat regardless of what you want.

Lies of the Obama cabal

February 27, 2009

Two big ones in a row.

First from the gaffmeister himself, Joe Biden. You can almost forgive him, because he has a long history of just saying wacky shit, but he is an official spokesman of our Dear Leader, so BHO should be keeping a leash on him.

Biden falsely claimed that Louisiana is loosing jobs a rate of 400 per day
. Of course, the actual truth is the opposite of what came out of Joe Biden’s mouth. Louisiana is adding jobs, i.e. the unemployment rate is falling. Don’t expect MSNBC (i.e. the “Obama network”) to point out this obvious error of the Obama administration.

The next big lie came from our Dear Leader personally. BHO claims that he can jack the taxes of “wealthiest 2% of Americans” to pay for his massive socialist government spending. The Wall Street Journal points out that the numbers just don’t add up.

Consider the IRS data for 2006, the most recent year that such tax data are available and a good year for the economy and “the wealthiest 2%.” Roughly 3.8 million filers had adjusted gross incomes above $200,000 in 2006. (That’s about 7% of all returns; the data aren’t broken down at the $250,000 point.) These people paid about $522 billion in income taxes, or roughly 62% of all federal individual income receipts. The richest 1% — about 1.65 million filers making above $388,806 — paid some $408 billion, or 39.9% of all income tax revenues, while earning about 22% of all reported U.S. income.

Note that federal income taxes are already “progressive” with a 35% top marginal rate, and that Mr. Obama is (so far) proposing to raise it only to 39.6%, plus another two percentage points in hidden deduction phase-outs. He’d also raise capital gains and dividend rates, but those both yield far less revenue than the income tax. These combined increases won’t come close to raising the hundreds of billions of dollars in revenue that Mr. Obama is going to need.

The bottom line is that Mr. Obama is selling the country on a 2% illusion. Unwinding the U.S. commitment in Iraq and allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire can’t possibly pay for his agenda. Taxes on the not-so-rich will need to rise as well.

On that point, by the way, it’s unclear why Mr. Obama thinks his climate-change scheme won’t hit all Americans with higher taxes. Selling the right to emit greenhouse gases amounts to a steep new tax on most types of energy and, therefore, on all Americans who use energy.

The numbers just don’t add up, and I’m betting that Team BHO knows it. They are just hoping that most Americans won’t do the math until it is too late.

Math is not Speaker Pelosi’s strong point

February 5, 2009

Listen carefully to what she says.

In case you missed it, here is the money quote:

“Every month we do not have an economic recovery package, 500 million Americans lose their jobs.”

Let us review the total population of the United States of America: 305 million

The math here isn’t hard. It’s flat out impossible for 500 million Americans to lose their jobs every month!

Either the Speaker of the House of Representatives, third in line for the President’s office, really is dumber than soap, or she is engaging in blatant fear mongering of the worst sort.

Obama democrats by the numbers

February 2, 2009

Doug Ross gives us some important numbers concerning key Obama democrats.
Here are some of the highlights.

$34,000: the amount of federal taxes that Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner (D) failed to pay during his employment at the International Monetary Fund despite receiving extra compensation and explanatory brochures that described his tax liabilities.

$75,000: the amount of money that the head of the powerful tax-writing committee, Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY), was forced to report on his taxes after the discovery that he had not reported income from a Costa Rican rental property. His excuses for the failure started with blaming his wife, then his accountant and finally the fact that he didn’t speak Spanish.

$133,900: the amount Fannie Mae “invested” in Chris Dodd (D-CT), head of the powerful Senate Banking Committee, presumably to repel oversight of the GSE prior to its meltdown. Said meltdown helped touch off the current economic crisis. In only a few years time, Fannie also “invested” over $105,000 in then-Senator Barack Obama.

$12,000,000: the amount of TARP money provided to community bank OneUnited despite the fact that it did not qualify for funds, and was “under attack from its regulators for allegations of poor lending practices and executive-pay abuses.” It turns out that Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), a key contributor to the Fannie Mae meltdown, just happens to be married to one of the bank’s ex-directors.

$2,000,000,000: ($2 billion) the approximate amount of money that House Appropriations Chairman David Obey (D-WI) is earmarking related to his son’s lobbying efforts. Craig Obey is “a top lobbyist for the nonprofit group” that would receive a roughly $2 billion component of the “Stimulus” package.

$3,700,000,000: ($3.7 billion) not to be outdone, this is the estimated value of various defense contracts awarded to a company controlled by the husband of Rep. Diane Feinstein (D-CA). Despite an obvious conflict-of-interest as “a member of the Military Construction Appropriations subcommittee, Sen. Feinstein voted for appropriations worth billions to her husband’s firms .”

$4,190,000,000: ($4.19 billion) the amount of money in the so-called “Stimulus” package devoted to fraudulent voter registration ACORN group under the auspices of “Community Stabilization Activities”. ACORN is currently the subject of a RICO suit in Ohio.

There is more, go check out. The corruption runs deep in our Dear Leader‘s top congressional supporters.

I question the timing

January 29, 2009

As I pointed out, about two thirds of the democrats so called “stimulus” package will not be spent until after 2010.

Now our Dear Leader is telling us over and over again that we need to act quickly on this crisis, so quickly that the members of congress can’t read the nearly 500 page bill packed with liberal pork he wants them to vote on right away.

If we must act fast, why is only 8% of that nearly one trillion dollars being spent in 2009?

The answer is clear. The timing is based on politics, not the needs of the American people. The democrats just won an election, they don’t see any great need to spend money right away. In fact, the worse things get for average Americans, the better it is for democrats.

Spending kicks up in 2010, just in time for the 2010 mid term elections. Incumbent democrats can point to all the pork in the bill going to their districts as a reason why they should reelected. The bulk of the money starts getting spent in 2011 and 2012. Just in time for our Dear Leader to claim credit while his reelection campaign is in full swing.

So, yes, I question the timing of the democrats pork bill.

An important fact about the dems "stimulus" bill

January 28, 2009

Harvard economics professor Greg Mankiw points out that over half the spending provided (59%) by the stimulus bill occurs after 2010! Only 8% occurs in 2009 and 33% in 2010.

Senator Chuck Schumer (democratHCI) was on FNS stating that government spending put much needed cash into the economy faster than tax cuts. Not if the government hangs onto most of the money for two years! A tax cut would put money into taxpayers hands this year!

The truth of the matter is that the democrats are using the current fiscal crisis (thank you Barney Frank and Chris Dodd) not to address the problem, but to shove through their agenda and private pork projects at the expense of the American people.

A liberal’s view on Obama’s promises

January 25, 2009

Talkleft blog claims they never believed Our Dear Leader’s promise about “no lobbyist” in his administration.
Here is the money quote:

The entire episode was total BS imo and any one who bought the nonsense deserves what they get as they were being willfully blind.

That is probably a safe statement about the BHO administration.

Colmes is either ignorant or lying

January 23, 2009

Watch the first video at this NewsBusters article.

During this video, liberal talking head Alan Colmes says that nobody knew about the New Orleans levies. That is a big fat lie. The state of the levies were well known and every attempt by the US Army Corps of Engineers to repair them was met with a fistful of lawsuits from various left of center groups including the Sierra Club.

Meanwhile, let us not forget Chris Dodd

November 9, 2008

The democrat Senator still hasn’t answered questions about his sweetheart deals from the subprime mortgage giant Countrywide.

As the Democrats moved toward victory at the end of October, a story by NBC’s Lisa Myers set Dodd apart from his triumphant fellow Democrats. Myers reported that federal agents are investigating the notorious “Friends of Angelo” list maintained by subprime mortgage giant Countrywide Financial’s co-founder Angelo Mozilo. Dodd was the most prominent member of that exclusive club.

Since the Dodd story broke in June, the five-term senator has offered contradictory fragments of explanations and intentions. Scheherazade after a six-pack of Red Bull would not have told more desperate tales. Dodd gallops the gamut from calling the allegations of special treatment “outrageous” to pledging repeatedly and specifically to release documents related to the $800,000 in sweetheart deals he got from Countrywide.

Still claiming “there’s nothing there,” Dodd refuses to say whether his Senate campaign committee’s payments of $60,000 last summer to a Washington law firm, which has a history of representing Democratic senators in trouble, were for his defense in the Senate ethics investigation of his dealings with Countrywide.
